Use Your Social Media to Spread Facts - Big Beautiful Bill Messaging Guidance

Very few people know of the devastating impact the BBB (H.R. 1) will have on people, the economy, the environment and our country. Use your voice to share factual information and the real impact this bill will have on people’s lives.

  • Trump's budget is a declaration of war on the poor, the sick, and the marginalized, condemning millions to a life of poverty, hunger, and despair.

  • The GOP's plan is a grotesque betrayal of our values as a society, prioritizing the interests of the ultra-wealthy over the basic needs of our most vulnerable citizens.

  • By gutting Medicaid and food aid programs, Trump's budget will lead to devastating consequences, including increased mortality rates, food insecurity, and economic devastation.

  • Trump's tariffs are a brutal tax on working families, causing a surge in prices for everyday necessities and pushing millions to the brink of disaster.

  • The Republican plan is a cynical attempt to widen the income gap, further enriching the already obscenely wealthy while condemning the rest of us to a life of economic insecurity.

  • Americans are already struggling with sky-high costs on everything from groceries to housing. Republicans have done nothing to make life more affordable – and are now making things even worse with Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill.

  • Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill cuts Medicaid and will take health care away from at least 14 million Americans. It will also drive up the cost of premiums, copays and deductibles for tens of millions more. Hospitals will close across the country and people will die.

  • Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill makes the largest cut to food assistance in American history, taking food away from millions of kids, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities. School meals will vanish and food will be taken from the mouths of our neighbors.

Some House Republicans Criticize the Budget Bill They Just Voted For

Thirteen House Republicans who supported President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” sent a letter Friday urging Senate GOP leaders to scale back some of its clean energy cuts, sparking pushback from conservative hard-liners.

The unusual criticism of their own bill indicates a modicum of regret by the GOP lawmakers, whose votes were critical to the bill passing the House by a narrow margin last month.

“While we were proud to have worked to ensure that the bill did not include a full repeal of the clean energy tax credits, we remain deeply concerned by several provisions,” said the Republicans in the letter, led by Rep. Jen Kiggans, R-Va.

They cited provisions that “abruptly terminate several credits just 60 days after enactment for projects that have not yet begun construction,” and “restrictions to transferability.”

“This approach jeopardizes ongoing development, discourages long-term investment, and could significantly delay or cancel energy infrastructure projects across the country,” the group of House Republicans said in criticizing the legislation they voted for, while suggesting some changes to “mitigate” the harm it could cause.

Kiggans, like most of the signatories, represents a competitive district that Democrats are targeting in the 2026 election. Other politically vulnerable members include: Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa.; Juan Ciscomani, R-Ariz.; Mike Lawler, R-N.Y.; Don Bacon, R-Neb.; Gabe Evans, R-Colo.; Young Kim, R-Calif.; David Valadao, R-Calif.; Rob Bresnahan, R-Pa.; and Tom Kean, R-N.J.

The remaining three, who hold comparably safer seats, are Reps. Mark Amodei, R-Nev.; Andrew Garbarino, R-N.Y.; and Nick LaLota, R-N.Y. Garbarino missed the vote, but praised the bill and said he was about to vote “yes” and didn’t make it in time. It passed 215-214 in an early morning vote.

The 13 Republicans warned that “the House-passed bill includes a phase out schedule for credits that would cause significant disruption to projects under development and stop investments needed to win the global energy race.”

Inspirational words from Jessica Cravens

It’s a lot to worry about, I know, but we don’t get to choose the times in which we live. So let’s shoulder our burden as cheerfully as possible, remembering that a life spent fighting for democracy, justice, and a livable environment is a life well spent indeed, regardless of our success rates.

And all things considered those rates, thus far, have been quite high. So let’s have faith in our abilities and keep doing what we do best: chopping wood, carrying water, and showing the world what it looks like to take patriotic action during tough times. Glorious results will ensue—it’s just a matter of time.
